Who is writing here
I live in Bonn, Germany, and have worked as a cloud engineer with AWS and Kubernetes since 2023. Before that I worked as a cloud consultant and technical advisor. I studied business information systems (B.Sc., FOM University of Applied Sciences, 2018 to 2022) and completed German vocational training as an IT systems management assistant (IT-Systemkaufmann), finishing in 2021 as the best apprentice in this occupation in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).
Lean is law is my own project. I developed the app for iPhone and Android and this website, including all the calculators.
My training
I have been doing strength training as a hobby for about two years. Over the last twelve months I lost weight in a cut, going from 83 to 73 kg, and my current goal is 71 kg.
Important so you can put the content in context: I am not a coach, not a nutritionist and have no medical qualification. What is written here therefore does not rest on my authority, but on studies and calculations you can follow.
Why Lean is law exists
The daily scale swings by one to two kilos, while the real change per week is often much smaller. That is why I steer bulk and cut by the trend weight instead of the daily value. Lean is law grew out of this approach: an app that calculates the trend, shows the pace per week and maps phases such as bulk, cut and diet break.
The calculators and articles on this website explain the same basics, free and without the app.
Where the numbers come from
The same rules apply to every text and every calculator:
- Articles and guides rely on studies and review papers. The sources are given in the text, mostly with a link to PubMed.
- Every calculator states its formula and the source of it right on the page, so you can recalculate any result.
- No invented numbers, ratings or testimonials. Sample values in worked examples, charts and calculators are marked as examples.
- Where the evidence is thin or a value is only a rough guideline, it says so.
- Articles carry their publication date and, if they were revised, the date of the update.
No medical advice
The content is for general information and does not replace medical advice. If you have a pre-existing condition, a history of eating disorders, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to a doctor before changing your diet or training.
